Innovation Academy is the only Choice Middle School for Johnston County Public Schools. We are a three-year program that serves 6th-8th grade. Our school extends an invitation to all incoming 6th graders in Johnston County. Students will experience a small school environment with a unique schedule that focuses on meeting individual needs academically. Additionally, Innovation focuses on providing enriching opportunities that build pioneers and future leaders in the district. The target groups for enrollment include first-generation college students and those demonstrating a strong work ethic and significant potential. Innovation Academy aims to create a diverse and dynamic learning community that fosters all students' academic excellence and personal growth.

Things to Consider:

• Innovation Academy follows the traditional Johnston County Schools' school calendar

• Our school hours are different from other middle schools: 8:45-3:45

• Morning and afternoon bus transportation is provided through JCPS. Some students may spend more time commuting on the bus than they would if they attended their base school.

• Innovation Academy does not have a Band or Sports Teams. However, students are eligible to participate in their base school’s sports teams. Parents will have to provide transportation to practices and games.

• Most of our new enrollments consist of rising 6th graders. Occasionally, we also accept rising 7th and 8th graders, but that decision is made case by case based on current enrollment numbers.
