If you wish to run for a position as an officer: President (5th grade), Vice President (4th grade), Secretary (5th grade), Treasurer (3rd grade), you must submit the following to Mrs. Meeks:

• a speech that is no longer than 90 seconds are due to Mrs. Meeks for approval.

• Students may record their own speeches and send them to jessicameeks@johnston.k12.nc.us via email or shared through google drive.

• Students who are unable to record their own speeches will be given a date to video record their speech in Mrs. Meeks’ classroom.

Speech Requirements

• Your name

• What position you are running for

• Whether or not you have served in SGA previously

• Volunteer work you have previously done

• Why you would be a great candidate for this position; what changes would you like to make to our school?

• How you will represent our school when working with our community

During campaigning: 

• Students may have posters, pass out stickers, give buttons, etc.

• All campaign items MUST be approved by an SGA Advisor before being put on the walls or being handed out.  

• NO STUDENT MAY USE PROPAGANDA TO BUY VOTES (i.e. give candy, homework passes, etc.)  This may result in disqualification of your application.
