Classroom Guidance

All students will participate in monthly lessons structured around the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Mindsets & Behaviors domains including academic, career, and social/emotional, as well as the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning Core Competencies including self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Group Counseling

Group counseling is available to students who have similar needs and are all working toward a common goal. Groups usually consist of four to six students and meet for approximately six to eight sessions. Students have the opportunity to share and learn from each other.

Individual Counseling

The school counselor holds individual counseling sessions with students when the need arises. She works with students on individual personal, social, and academic goals. Students may request to see the school counselor. Staff and parents may refer a student for individual counseling. School counselors do not offer on-going, long-term therapy.

Consultation and Collaboration

The school counselor consults and collaborates with parents, administrators, teachers, and other important stakeholders to promote the academic and social/emotional success of all students.

School-wide Programs

The school counselor coordinates several school-wide programs that help meet the needs of our students including Backpack Buddies, Capturing Kids Hearts, Care Closet, Careers in the Classroom, Holiday Helpers, Silent Partners, and Snack Bins.
