Mr. Maurice Myers

Born in Durham, NC and raised in Mt. Gilead, NC. Bachelor of Science/Biology from East Carolina University. Bachelor of Music/Jazz Studies/Vocal Performance and Master of Music/Jazz Studies/Composition and Arranging from North Carolina Central University. Instruments are voice (primary), piano, drums, guitar. Performed with world renowned musicians and jazz legends including Lenora Zenalai Helm, Ira Wiggins, Branford Marsalis, Joey Calderazzo, Ellis Marsalis, Sr., Delfeayo Marsalis, Nnenna Freelon, Trineice Robinson-Martin, Stefan Harris, Benny Golson, Jimmy Heath. Featured arrangments and lead vocals on North Carolina Cental University Vocal Jazz Ensemble's sophomore recording, Take Note. Featured arrangments and guest vocals on Lenora Zenzalai Helm's most recent recording, For The Love Of Big Band. Featured compositions, arrangments and lead vocals on debut concert, recording and release with gospel group Sold Out entitled Sold Out Live! An Evening of Praise and Worship.

  • JCPS to hold Virtual Job Fair April 21

    Johnston County Public Schools will hold a Virtual Job Fair on Wednesday, April 21. The event will be held in a Zoom Conference format from 2:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. Candidates will have the opportunity to meet with various school principals about career opportunities in each of the district’s 47 schools.

  • Updates to COVID-19 Symptom Screenings

    New guidance given to schools in the Strong Schools NC Public Health toolkit states that daily temperature and symptom screening questions prior to entry are no longer required. We will no longer screen individuals who enter JCPS facilities for COVID-19 symptoms. This begins on Monday, April 5 for all staff and on Monday, April 12 for students upon their return from spring break.

  • 2021-2022 JCPS Preschool applications now open

    The online application for the Johnston County Public Schools Preschool Program is now available. Parents who are interested in the JCPS Preschool Program are encouraged to apply early, as availability is on a first come, first served basis. The application window closes on June 30th.

    Johnston County Public Schools has updated its plan to mark senior milestones, including prom and graduation while adhering to guidance from the Johnston County Public Health Department and the CDC in regards to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
