Mr. Jordan Triepke

Hi parents and students!
I love teaching at Cooper Academy! This is my fourth year at this school after completing my student teaching here alongside a veteran first grade teacher. I have taught both second and third grade here at Cooper and have fallen in love with second!
I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia and graduated from Appalachian State University in the mountains of North Carolina. I love sports, the outdoors, and spending time with my family. I have always enjoyed children, but found my love for teaching while in high school where I coached youth soccer and volunteered at my local Boys and Girls Club.

Second grade is a wonderful year of learning! We will build upon the foundations established in first grade. In second grade we will continue building on our reading and writing skills. In Math we will master our addition and subtraction facts, as well as work with measurement and data. We will also improve our handwriting skills over the year to be prepared for the third grade. Finally, we will study multiple aspects of Science and Social Studies, along with many other things!
I'm looking forward to a fun and engaging year with you!

    (2) Chorus : September 24 - September 28

    • In chorus, students will be singing, playing, composing, listening, moving, and responding to a diverse range of music. They will learn how powerful and life-changing singing and playing instruments in a group can be. Ms. Wooten's hope is that each child will discover his or her own unique voice in chorus class.

    (3) STEAM : August 27 - August 31 and October 1 - October 5

    • In STEAM, students will use elements from science, technology, engineering, art, and math to build, design, and investigate with hands-on activities that stimulate the mind and encourage exploratory learning. Students may even build a robot!

    (4) Arts and Literacy : September 3 - September 7 and October 8 - October 12

    • In this class, students will use various media to become more imaginative, creative, and artistic as they investigate the world around them. This is a class that blends the love of reading literature and being literate in all forms of arts and connects the two to help engage students in understanding more about the fine arts.

    (5) Spanish : September 10 - September 14 and October 15 - October 19

    • Here, students will be learning Spanish in order to build relationships with Spanish speakers. They will also be "traveling" to a Spanish speaking country to learn more about its culture through workstations by researching, reading, writing, role-playing, and completing a project. This will lead to opening their minds to have a wider perspective of the world to be tolerant global citizens.
