Hello. My name is Dane Smith and I am the Fire Academy Chief here at Clayton High School. I am a 17 year veteran of the Fire Service and I served as a professional firefighter for 13 years before taking the role of Fire Science instructor. I look forward to meeting new students who truly have a heart for service and truly want to help out there fellow man. I am proud to be a Comet.

The times and Zoom codes are as follows. The first 5 days you will have two times each day to zoom in with me. We will talk about the course layout as well as other important info required by JCPS. You are not required to make both times during the day, you only need to be in 1 zoom meeting a day. You do need to be in the Zoom meeting assigned to your blocks for the first 5 days.

High School State Assessments Update
On December 8th 2020, the Johnston County School Board of Education voted to return to Plan C (Remote Learning), we would like to provide an update to parents and guardians of options to complete state-mandated End-of-Course (EOC) and Career/Technical Education Post Assessment testing.

Innovative Programs Virtual Family Information Nights Scheduled
Johnston County Public Schools invites students and their families to learn more about our interesting options for our middle and high school students during our Virtual Information Nights on January 28 and February 4, 2021. Participants will be able to visit the virtual spaces for each program and talk with program coordinators and students from 6:00-8:00 pm.

JCPS transitions to Plan B for all students
The Johnston County Board of Education voted to return all Pre-K and EC-Self Contained students to Plan B, four days per week, beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 19. These students will participate in face-to-face instruction on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with Wednesday serving as a remote learning day. All other students in grades K-12 will remain on Plan C until Monday, Feb. 1.
