Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Kim Breitenbach
I am Mrs. Breitenbach, and I am SO excited to be a part of Polenta Elementary School's third grade team! Prior to moving to North Carolina, my family and I spent the last 30 years making our home in Tampa, FL. I am originally from East Tennessee, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in Marketing at East Tennessee State University. In my first job in Tampa, I worked for GTE Data Services in their computer rooms and in their National Support Center. After having children, I went to work for Hilton Hotels Corporation and worked in sales for about 8 years. I then transitioned into the school system in Tampa, where I have worked as a secretary, an attendance clerk, and finally, a teacher of gifted children in grades K - 5. I taught for 8 years in Tampa before moving to North Carolina. My husband and I have 3 children who are in college, now, and we have 2 dogs and one cat who complete our family! My hobbies include going to the beach, spending time in the mountains, riding my bike, walking, baking and trying new recipes, and reading. My newest hobby is enjoying my grandson, who just turned 1 this summer! I enjoy seeing children learn and experience those "lightbulb" moments that make great learning memories! I am excited to get to know your children as we learn and experience 3rd grade together!

Johnston County Public Schools is always striving to provide students and families with exemplary service. In most cases, school bus transportation is essential for many students to access a quality education. In order to meet our daily goal, it is necessary to implement change that enhances and improves our overall operation. As we prepare for the 2022-2023 school year, JCPS Transportation Services and School Nutrition will be hosting a Summer Information Fair at each high school.
Our district is launching a new portion of our website to further communicate bus delays and replacements with our families. We encourage those who have a student who utilizes our transportation to get to or from school to visit www.johnston.k12.nc.us/busdelays for updates on our school bus routes beginning Tuesday, January 18.
The Johnston County Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the 2022 Johnston County Public Schools salary schedule at their regularly scheduled Dec. 14 meeting.
