Public Information Office
What We Do
The Office of Public Information responds to requests for information, serves as the news media's point of contact, and provides communications leadership and training for Johnston County Public Schools.
The Public Information Office has developed a district Communications Policy, approved by the Board of Education in April 2001, as well as a Strategic Communications Plan that outlines the strategies being used to communicate internally and externally.
The department is also responsible for:
- Promoting district priorities and initiatives
- Communicating district events and news
- Marketing, publicity, and publications
- District Printing and Graphic Design
Meet the Public Information Team
Executive Director of Communication
Education: B.S. Mass Communication/Broadcast Journalism from Barton College
My Role: I work with a small and efficient group of media professionals who work hard every day to make a difference in JCPS.
My Why: I love sharing with the public the amazing things our students and employees do.
Communication and Marketing Coordinator
Education: B.S. in Communication from East Carolina University
My Role: As the Communication and Marketing Coordinator, I work to tell the stories of the district's students, staff, and stakeholders through a variety of media outlets. I manage each of the district's social media networks and work to build relationships with our community members through them. The Public Information Office works with all JCPS departments to share the vision of JOCO 2020.
My Why: I work with a small group of communication professionals whom I have grown to love. The best part about my job is the group of people I get to work with every day. Every person I work with has a "team player" mindset, and does whatever it takes to get the job done.
Printing Services Manager
Education: B.A. in Graphic Design and Media Arts from Southern New Hampshire University
My Role: As the Printing Services Manager, I have many roles in seeing a project to completion. Consulting with the schools and departments to ensure their needs are being met in a cost effect manner are key. Graphic Design is my passion and I enjoy designing logos and other materials used throughout the school system. Other task that I take on are photography, printing, ordering, invoicing, and making sure deadlines are met.
My Why: I love meeting and working with everyone from all around the county.
Media Production Specialist
Education: UNC Pembroke Mass Communications with an emphasis in Broadcasting
My Role: I make videos.
My Why: The people I work with are awesome.
Education: B.S. in Communications from East Carolina University • Associate of Arts from Pitt Community College
My Role: I'm here to help communicate to the public the importance of the work of our teachers and staff. I can put expert terms into common language, so the public can understand what we are trying to convey.
My Why: I love that I get use a combination of photography, videography, and writing to enhance communications for JCPS.
Graphic Tech I
Education: B.S. in Mathmatics University of South Carolina
My Role: I am the official pressman and bindery person for Johnston County Public Schools assisting the Printing Services Manager.
My Why: My position involves multiple activities that differ each day. I help with the printing needs of the entire Johnston County Public Schools and administration.
