Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Jenna Hays
Hello River Dell Families! I am Mrs. Hays and I teach 5th grade math and science. This is my first year at RDE but my 8th year teaching. I earned my teaching certificate from East Carolina University after completing my undergradute degree at Peace College in Raleigh, NC. I am married to my husband Joe and together we have 2 stepsons, Ryan (14) and Keeghan (12), and we have another son, Jameson who we welcomed into the world February 20, 2019. My family and I live in the Flowers/Archer Lodge community and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be closer to home and serve in my community! This year is going to be the best year yet! For the past 15 years, Johnston County Public Schools has honored our local veterans with a special Veterans Day celebration program. The 2020 celebration will be held virtually on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The online program begins at 11 a.m., and a link to the program will be posted...
Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
As students in grades K-5 begin returning to school, the curbside locations for free meals will now be located at each middle and high school. The curbside meal locations at our elementary schools will end on Friday, Oct. 2 and will open at the middle and high schools on Monday, Oct. 5.
The Johnston County Board of Education approved a back to school plan at a special called session on Thursday, Sept. 25.
Carpool Reminders:You can use both lanes in our two lane road as you enter our carpool to help balance out the line. We want to make sure we do not have any cars out on Buffalo Rd. Mr. Jewett will be at the top helping to direct traffic and alternating the cars; so if you see one line is longer than the other, you can switch lanes carefully to balance out the lines.
For our kindergarten families who have students returning for face-to-face instruction, our cohort 1 students will be coming to school on Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th. Our cohort 2 students will be coming to school on Thursday, October 8th and Friday, October 9th. For families driving your students to school, our drop-off begins at 8:30am. We will be taking student temperatures before they exit the vehicle. Some of our kindergarten staff did an amazing job putting together a video of what that process is going to look like.
