Mrs. Jenna Hays
Hello River Dell Families! I am Mrs. Hays and I teach 5th grade math and science. This is my first year at RDE but my 8th year teaching. I earned my teaching certificate from East Carolina University after completing my undergradute degree at Peace College in Raleigh, NC. I am married to my husband Joe and together we have 2 stepsons, Ryan (14) and Keeghan (12), and we have another son, Jameson who we welcomed into the world February 20, 2019. My family and I live in the Flowers/Archer Lodge community and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be closer to home and serve in my community! This year is going to be the best year yet! Johnston County Public Schools invites students and their families to learn more about our interesting options for our middle and high school students during our Virtual Information Nights on January 28 and February 4, 2021. Participants will be able to visit the virtual spaces for each program and talk with program coordinators and students from 6:00-8:00 pm.
The Johnston County Board of Education voted to return all Pre-K and EC-Self Contained students to Plan B, four days per week, beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 19. These students will participate in face-to-face instruction on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with Wednesday serving as a remote learning day. All other students in grades K-12 will remain on Plan C until Monday, Feb. 1.
On December 8th 2020, the Johnston County School Board of Education voted to return to Plan C (Remote Learning), we would like to provide an update to parents and guardians of options to complete state-mandated End-of-Course (EOC) and Career/Technical Education Post Assessment testing.
Johnston County School Board voted for students to return to school under Plan B stating Monday, February 1st. Our teachers will be contacting you to make sure you know which cohort your child is in. If your child is in cohort 1, they will attend school on Mondays and Tuesdays. If your child is in cohort 2, they will attend school on Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays will be a remote learning day for all of our students for a deep cleaning of the building. Mr. Jewett will be doing another parent information video next week to talk about what instruction on Plan B will look like for our students.
Carpool Reminders:You can use both lanes in our two lane road as you enter our carpool to help balance out the line. We want to make sure we do not have any cars out on Buffalo Rd. Mr. Jewett will be at the top helping to direct traffic and alternating the cars; so if you see one line is longer than the other, you can switch lanes carefully to balance out the lines.
For our kindergarten families who have students returning for face-to-face instruction, our cohort 1 students will be coming to school on Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th. Our cohort 2 students will be coming to school on Thursday, October 8th and Friday, October 9th. For families driving your students to school, our drop-off begins at 8:30am. We will be taking student temperatures before they exit the vehicle. Some of our kindergarten staff did an amazing job putting together a video of what that process is going to look like.
