Ms. Jeimmy Güiza-Ardila.
¡Hola! My name is Jeimmy Güiza Ardila. I am one of the IB - MYP Spanish teachers for 9th grade and ab Initio years 1 & 2 for Juniors & Seniors. This is my fourth year at SSS.
I am from Bogotá, Colombia. I received a B.A. in Philology and Languages with an emphasis on English from The National University, one of the most important public universities in my country. I am also certified with IELTS level C1.
I have been teaching in middle and high school for fifteen years. I have taught literature, English as a second language and trained students for the TOEFL, IELTS, FCE, PET and KET tests.
I am part of a program called Participate Learning, which connects foreign teachers to different schools in the U.S. and gives students the chance to experience a variety of teaching environments.
I love to read books, watch kdramas, spend time with my family, learn about God and talk to Him. I have a passion for cooking since it allows me to learn from other cultures. Apart from that, I like traveling, listening to music and going to the beach. My favorite city in Colombia is Cartagena. When I retire, I want to live there.
It is my desire to be an ambassador by bringing, not only my culture but also, the outside world into the four walls of my classroom. I want to provide an invaluable cultural exchange perspective for my students to foster their critical thinking, inquiry and reflection. Hence, students will be engaged in significant, meaningful learning.
