Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Donna Chapman
I am a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS degree in Education. I am currently certified to teach K-12 and specifically, high school math and social studies.
I have taught school for 25+ years in a variety of settings. My career in Johnston County started at South Campus Community School where I taught for four years. This will be my second year at SSS.
I have five children. Rachel is my oldest daughter and is married to Corey. They have two absolutely wonderful children, Elliott (3) and Ada (15 months old); Stephen is next in line and lives at home; Anna, Matthew, and Sarah are in high school at Cleveland. I also have two dogs and a Kaity Monster. I spend a lot of time with my kids and grandbabies so I am very busy outside of school. I love sports and being outdoors and active. Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies which is good because I have a lot of people to feed!!!
I love to teach! It is my heart and my passion. I love being in the classroom and I can not wait to have my classroom full of students. On-line teaching is not the same but I’m learning and adjusting as I go. I want everyone to succeed and to enjoy my class so I work really hard to make that happen.
Every JCPS parent must fill out the Second Semester Choice form to choose either the Virtual Program OR face-to-face instruction for each of their students. The Second Semester Choice form is to be filled out for ALL students in grades PreK-12. If a child is going to participate in face-to-face instruction for the second semester, the parent will be asked to fill out transportation information for the student in the form. A form for each student should be completed by Nov. 30.
Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
