Mrs. Sarah Buddin

*Mrs. Buddin will be out of the office until teacher workdays resume (August 6th) for the 2020-2021 school year. I'm looking forward to another great year at Cooper Academy!*

I served four years as a school counselor at a Title 1 magnet school in another school district but this is my first year as the Mental Health Interventionist at Cooper Academy. My counseling beliefs are founded on a Strengths-Based framework. In order to best serve our students and our community, the Social Emotional Learning team (which includes the school counselor, mental health interventionist, and behavior specialist) will work collaboratively to address the needs of all of our students; including strategies such as behavior intervention, small group instruction, individual counseling, and connections to community resources. As an SEL team, our united goal is to build relationships with student and identify how their strengths can help them overcome adversity and build resiliency.

During my free time, I love to spend time with my husband and our one year old son Sawyer, visit with friends and family, read books, ride horses, travel to new places, listen to music, and attend NC State football games to cheer on the Wolfpack. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with all of the amazing students, staff, and community! I cannot wait to meet your children and see how they grow this school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
