Mrs. Raines

Hi - my name is Kelly Raines and I am so excited to be joining the PHANTOM PHAMILY here at Benson Middle School.

I have been married to my husband Peter for the past 26 years and we have lived here in Johnston County since early 2003.  I have two children who both graduated from Johnston County schools and have now moved on to college life - both of them due to graduate this coming May.

I have taught English Language Arts in Johnston County schools for the past 9 years and prior to that I was fortunate enough to be able to take some time off to be with my children.  Both jobs are equally exhausting at times - but I have found them both to be equally rewarding as well.

I love to read and I feel that life is better with great stories that enrich us and make us think.  My goal this year will be to help my students fnd some joy from reading a really good book and to help them be able to see the world through someone else's eyes.
