Facilities and Construction Overview

  • The Facilities and Construction division is responsible for maintaining the upkeep and accommodating the growth of one of the fastest growing school districts in the state of North Carolina. Johnston County Public Schools consists of 53 buildings, which include pre-k and elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and administrative support offices. 

    Facilities and Operations oversees: 

    • 5.5 million square feet of buildings on 1,613 acres
    • JCPS operates 48 schools:

      • 24 Elementary Schools
      • 11 Middle Schools
      • 8 High Schools
      • 1 Alternative School
      • 1 Innovative Middle School
      • 2 Innovative High Schools
      • 1 Virtual Academy

     

2022 Growth Needs Update

  • Johnston County Public Schools Chief of Facilities and Construction Brooks Moore presented the 2022 Growth Needs Update to the Johnston County Board of Education at their March meeting. 

    Utilizing the county-wide growth and development data and following the facility needs recommendation, NC State University’s Operations Research and Education Laboratory (OREd) presented last month, Johnston County Public Schools needs $705,000,000 of funding to construct the 6 new schools, 6 additions to existing schools, and infrastructure/modernization improvements.
