Ms. Charlene Broadway
Greetings, I am Charlene Broadway. I am a graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. I was a Voice Performance and Music Education major. I studied voice under Dr. Louise Toppin and piano with Dr. Kerry Carlin while at ECU. I briefly taught in Smithfield, VA.
I have been teaching with the Johnston County Public Schools system since 2006.
While I am a Lenoir County native, I have fallen in love with Johnston County.
I look forward to teaching your child Choir and/or General Music.

Google Classroom codes:
*update: I originally was going to be solely using the learning platform Canvas. However giving the challenges of virtual learning, as well as potential frustrations for you and your child I will be doing a "soft launch" of Canvas. I will continue to use Google classroom this fall; I will post the codes in remind as well as you can find them above. (hyperlinked)
Please note that I will be using Canvas this year versus Google Classroom as I have in the past. I am still learning this platform. Please know that both your child and I will have a learning curve while moving towards this Learning Measuring System (LMS). The county will be moving solely to the Canvas platform for the 2021-2022 school year.
Below is my schedule. Your child's code for class meet may be found in the banner of their GC for my class.

Now more than ever, we are aware of the many different needs of our students and families. As we begin planning for the 2021-22 school year, we are seeking feedback from parents to gauge interest in establishing a Johnston County Public Schools Virtual Academy, as an alternative to the face-to-face instruction environment for students. We are asking for your input by completing an online interest survey.
Johnston County Public Schools has developed a detailed plan to mark senior milestones, including prom and graduation, while adhering to guidance from the Johnston County Public Health Department and the CDC in regards to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Online Kindergarten Registration for the 2020-2021 school year is Feb. 15-March 5. Full details are available on the Kindergarten Registration website.
