Mr. Garry High
My name is Garry High. I have been teaching here at West Johnston High School since 2019.
I am the IT/Computer Science teacher for the CTE department. I teach CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Computer Engineering Technology I/II, and Computer Science Principles I/II.
I am certified in Mathematics 9-12, PLTW Engineering and Business Education.
Before coming to West Johnston High School, I taught mathematics and engineering at Independence High School in Charlotte, N. C. for 13 years. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in industry for 24 years as a Software Engineer.
I graduated with honors from UNCC with a BS in Mathematics/Computer Science and Electrical Engineering minor. I have had post graduate training at NC State University, University of Tennesse Chatanuga, Duke University, Rochester Institute of Technology, UNCC and Central Piedmont Community College.
I have been married for 35 years. We have 2 beautiful daughters, a granddaughter and a grandson.

While face masks are still required in all of our indoor facilities, students, staff, and guests of our campuses are no longer required to wear a face covering when outdoors. Students and staff may continue to wear masks when participating in recess or outdoor activities if they choose to do so.
The online application for the Johnston County Public Schools Preschool Program is now available. Parents who are interested in the JCPS Preschool Program are encouraged to apply early, as availability is on a first come, first served basis. The application window closes on June 30th.
