My name is Darian Stanton. I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I recieved my bachelors degree in Health and Physical Education from Fayetteville State University. I am very excited to be teaching at Smithfield Middle School. This is my second year as a teacher. I am proud to say that I started my career as a teacher here at Smithfield Middle! There is a wonderful set of students at Smithfield Middle school. I am honored to be able to have worked with them my first and second year at Smithfield Middle. I understand that we are living in unprecedented times. I want to be able to help each student to the best of my ability. I am looking forward to the transitioning to face to face instruction. I will do my best to help each student whether they are virtual or face to face.

    Students who are virtual are required to login to class five minutes after the face to face students get into the classroom and settled in. So 6th grade virtual students will login at 9:25. 7th grade virtual students will login at 12:50. 8th grade virtual students will login at 2:00. If you have any questions please send me an email.

  • Board of Education Meeting set for April 13

    The April Johnston County Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at 4:00 p.m. in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield.

  • JCPS to hold Virtual Job Fair April 21

    Johnston County Public Schools will hold a Virtual Job Fair on Wednesday, April 21. The event will be held in a Zoom Conference format from 2:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. Candidates will have the opportunity to meet with various school principals about career opportunities in each of the district’s 47 schools.

  • Updates to COVID-19 Symptom Screenings

    New guidance given to schools in the Strong Schools NC Public Health toolkit states that daily temperature and symptom screening questions prior to entry are no longer required. We will no longer screen individuals who enter JCPS facilities for COVID-19 symptoms. This begins on Monday, April 5 for all staff and on Monday, April 12 for students upon their return from spring break.

  • JC Board of Education votes to return all students to Plan A

    At a special called session on March 22, the Johnston County Board of Education voted to return students in grades 6-12 on Plan A. Effective April 12, any student who is currently receiving face-to-face instruction will attend every day except Wednesdays, which will continue to be used for deep cleaning and sanitizing.

  • 2021-2022 JCPS Preschool applications now open

    The online application for the Johnston County Public Schools Preschool Program is now available. Parents who are interested in the JCPS Preschool Program are encouraged to apply early, as availability is on a first come, first served basis. The application window closes on June 30th.
