Mrs. Newhart

Welcome to Camp!!

My name is Karen Newhart and I am very excited about being your child’s kindergarten teacher this year.  This will be my 14th year in education and fifth year at Riverwood Elementary and I am truly blessed to be a part of this amazing family.

I am originally from upstate NY where I obtained my Master's degree in brain-based teaching with a focus on reading and literacy.  My family has called North Carolina home for 9 years.   My husband Bill and I have been married for 26 years and have two daughters, Kaylin (23) and Amber (22).   We also have a Great Dane/Greyhound named Odin.

I believe in creating a welcoming and safe environment where children will grow academically, emotionally, and socially while developing a love of learning.  I am dedicated to building relationships with my students that will help them to succeed not only in the classroom, but in all aspects of their everyday lives.  Families are important to our success, so together we can make a difference.
