Mrs. Newhart

Welcome to Camp!!  My name is Karen Newhart and I am very excited to be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year.  This will be my third year at Riverwood Elementary and am truly blessed to be a part of this amazing family.

I am originally from upstate NY where I obtained my Master’s degree in Brain-Based education with a focus on reading and literacy.  My family has called North Carolina home for 7 years now.   My husband Bill and I have been married for 24 years and have two wonderful daughters, Kaylin (21) and Amber (20) who are in college.

I believe in creating a welcoming and safe environment where children will grow academically, emotionally and socially while developing a love of learning.  I am dedicated to building relationships with my students that will help them to succeed not only in the classroom, but in all aspects of their everyday lives.  Families are important to our success, so together we can make a difference.
