Ms. Norma Tedera
Hello West Smithfield parents,
I am the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for kindergarten, first and second grade. I have taught for more than 20 years. I love my job especially working with my ESL students. This is my second year teaching at West Sithfield Elementary School
I graduated my Master of Arts in Education, Bachelor of Arts in English from Notre Dame of Marbel University and bachelor of Secondary Education in History from Holy Cross of Davao University in the Philippines.
I love to read books. My love for reading began in my preschool age. I was attracted to print and pictures. When I started schooling, I was in awe at the collection of so many reading materials in our school library. It opened a whole new world of learning, experiencing the delight in immersing myself in books, novels. This is why I collect books and reading materials.
I love to travel:
Travel means adventure. Ziplining over the jungle canopy in Lake Sebu, Philippines, night safari in Singapore , riding a shinkansen (bullet train) in Japan, cruising in Bahamas, savoring exotic food in Hong Kong and China, cruising the Blue Danube river in Budapest, traversing Halstatt Village, A UNESCO World Heritage site in Austria, watching the "saints" marching out of the Astronomical Clock in Prague, soaking into the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon, the best known spa in Iceland, enjoying a Mozart dinner concert in Prague, navigating cautiously the Belfast Giants Causeway, viewing the Games of Thrones locations in Northern Ireland and walking tour of picturesque Dublin.
Travel teaches learning domains in an intense hands-on way. I love to share my travel experiences with my students, friends and family.
Remote Learning starts March 30, 2020
I am co-teaching in some google classrooms so I will be posting some resources like videos for read alouds or links that you may access for your child.
