Mrs. Melanie O'Dell

My name is Melanie O'Dell and I am the STEAM teacher. What is STEAM?  STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.  I have been a part of the West Smithfield Elementary family for over 12 years but this is my first year as the STEAM teacher.  I graduated from North Carolina State University and hold Bachelor of Science degrees in Biological Science and Zoological Science (GO PACK!).  I am Mom to two wonderful girls, Faith (an Agriculture Education Major at NCSU) and Gabby (a senior at SSS). I have been married to my amazing husband, Robert, for 25 years.  I was born, raised, and educated right here in Smithfield.  I absolutely love science and teaching and am super excited to bring my love of science and engineering to our students.
