Mr. Christian Felan
Hello and welcome to my American History and/or Civics class. I look forward to working with my students as we study the history of our nation and our system of government. My primary aim as a social studies teacher is to help my students understand how the past has shaped our present, and how that understanding can help them to shape their own future.
Some of my background is that, even though I was born in Woodbridge, VA right after my father got out of the USMC, I really grew up in southeast Michigan. I graduated from Wayne Memorial High School in 1992. I then went on to Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. I earned a B.A. in Social Studies Education in 2001 with a history and political science endorsement. Upon graduation, I moved to Orange County, California where I taught ESL for the Fullerton Joint Union HS District. A year later, I moved to Killeen, Texas where I taught PE and coached 7th grade football (7-1 with a district title) at Palo Alto MS. After my year was finished I moved to Northern Virginia where I taught social studies for six more years before taking a break from teaching. Eight years later and following two years of heavy, heavy, heavy contemplation I re-entered education with my current posting here at SSS. This year will be my 10th year of teaching (my 2nd here at SSS) and I am very proud to be a Spartan! Sparty on!!!!
