Mr. Ron Cornelous
Hello, everyone! Welcome to the McGee's Crossroads Middle School band for the 2021-2022 school year! We are expecting wonderful things from our students this year!
I am in my 4th year as the band director for McGee's Middle. I was born in Jacksonville, NC, however, I was raised in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from high school in 1991, I relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina to begin studies at Shaw University. I graduated from Shaw in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual and Performing Arts. My principal instrument is trumpet, and my secondary instrument is piano. Many years later, I decided to pursue another degree, so I enrolled at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. I began my studies July 2011, and graduated May 2013, earning the Master of Arts in Teaching, with a concentration in music. Shortly after graduating from ECU, I began working in Johnston County Public Schools. From 2013-2018, I was a chorus teacher in JCPS, but then accepted a band director position for the start of the 2018-2019 school year. I absolutely love what I do, and I certainly enjoy working with such passionate and dedicated students! I'm ready to have an absolutely amazing school year!
