Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Tara Roy
I have been an educator for 20 years. I started my teaching career in Johnston County in 1997 and am thrilled to be return in my current role! I have worked as a classroom teacher, state education consultant and curriculum administrator before coming to Polenta in 2016 as the Literacy Coach and I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten! The classroom is really where my heart is! I have had the opportunity to present literacy research and best instructional practices at both state and national conferences. I am very passionate about literacy and believe that the ability to read and write are true super powers that ALL children possess!
I live in Apex with my husband, daughter and our 2 dogs.
A few of my favorite things:
My favorite flower is the sunflower, but I love all flowers!
My favorite candy is dark chocolate, but I can have very little sugar, so sweets are a real treat for me!
My favorite drinks are coffee sweetened with honey and water.
My classroom wishlist is crayola markers, sharpies, treasure box items, outdoor recess games (hula hoops, balls, chalk, bubbles, any outdoor play items)
At this time, all traditional high school graduations are still planned for May 29. Graduation ceremonies for Johnston County Early College Academy and Johnston County Career and Technical Leadership Academy will now take place on May 16th, rather than the original date of May 15th.
