Mrs. Andrea Hall
My Reason for Teaching: I grew up in upstate New York, surrounded by an extensive extended family. I spent my days exploring the woods and wildlife around me, never tiring of catching frogs, garter snakes, and lightning bugs. I had a million questions, and luckily for me, I had so many family members I could turn to that would answer them. The nurturing of my childhood interests later inspired me to become a teacher. I love the excitement my students have for learning, and my aim is to encourage and support them in their quest for knowledge.
My Family Life: My husband and I met during my first year of college, and we just celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary. We have three children that keep us very busy. Our oldest daughter earned her Associate's Degree at Johnston Community College, and is now attending Western Carolina. Our son just graduated from West Johnston, and is attending Johnston Community College, with plans to transfer to UNC Charlotte. Our youngest daughter is a student at West Johnston, and she is interested in pursuing a career as a pediatric oncologist.
My Interests: I love to read! One of my greatest sources of joy is to share books with my students, but I also read every chance I get at home. I enjoy all genres, but my particular favorites are crime thrillers, especially written by John Sandford, Ridley Pearson, and Jeffery Deaver. My husband and I also enjoy walking around trails with our chocolate Lab, Java. I have also been able to travel, and my favorite destination is Cozumel. I spent almost the whole time snorkeling, and had the opportunity to see iguanas, coatis, and a Blue Crab migration.
