I am a Clayton native and now reside in Garner with my husband and young son. I graduated from Clayton High School in 1999 and went on to receive my Bachelor's of Arts degree in History from Barton College in 2003. In 2005, I completed the courses necessary to obtain my North Carolina teaching credentials at ECU.

I began teaching through lateral entry at Smithfield Middle in 2004. At SMS, I taught 6th & 8th grade Social Studies. I also coached volleyball and softball for my 8 years there. In 2012, I left SMS to teach at Wakefield Middle School in Raleigh. I taught 8th grade Social Studies, ran the school's newscast and sponsered the WMS Student Council.

This is my third year at Riverwood Middle and am extremely excited to be back in JoCo! I fell in love with history in the 8th grade and strive to pass my excitement for history on to my students. In my class, I teach using a variety of methods in hopes to engage all of my students in a life-long love for learning.

Assignments & classroom resources can be found in your class' Google Classroom. My goal is to communicate with parents through a weekly email blasts that will go out on Fridays. We will also be using Class Dojo this year.
