Ms. Erica Haasl
K-2 School Counselor
Hi! My name is Erica Haasl and 2020-2021 will mark my fourth year here. It is my continued goal to support students while they develop social and emotional skills, and to help remove any barriers there might be to their learning.
I will be adapting my program to provide virtual classroom guidance lessons and virtual and face-to-face short-term individual counseling as we start the school year. Examples of what can be covered during lessons and counseling sessions include: coping skills, conflict resolution, self-esteem, feelings, friendship skills, and bullying prevention/intervention. I am excited to start monthly parent e-newsletters this year to share information and further connect with our school community (stay tuned!).
Students are taught how to seek my support. Please feel free to contact me at any time during the year to discuss your child’s needs, if you have questions or concerns, and/or need further resources.
A special called session of Johnston County Board of Education has been called for Thursday, July 29 at 5:00 p.m. in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield. The open session portions of the meeting and all announcements will be accessible to the public via the livestream available online.

While face masks are still required in all of our indoor facilities, students, staff, and guests of our campuses are no longer required to wear a face covering when outdoors. Students and staff may continue to wear masks when participating in recess or outdoor activities if they choose to do so.
The online application for the Johnston County Public Schools Preschool Program is now available. Parents who are interested in the JCPS Preschool Program are encouraged to apply early, as availability is on a first come, first served basis. The application window closes on June 30th.
