Mrs. Ruth Michele Byrd

Hello!

I'm glad you are here and clicked on my name!  My name is Mrs. Byrd and this is my 3rd year as Library/Media Specialist at Selma Middle School. I have been a librarian since 2008 with 10 years at Cooper Elementary in Clayton and one year at Archer Lodge Middle.  I am so proud to be here ar Selma!  If you can't tell by my bitmoji...I love books and reading.  I know that some people do not enjoy reading as much as I do, but that just makes my job more fun!...Fun, because when I can get students interested in and excited about reading, it is such a great feeling. I also love research and finding our new information about our past and things going on in the world today. My "Why" for getting up everyday?...curiosity about the world we live in and the people in it!!! There are so many stories to hear and read in our world! Stories from our past and our present, and even stories trying to predict what might happen in the future. Stories imagined and real. Stories that can make us cry, laugh, think, act and react, reflect, have empathy for others and inspire us!

I am excited for what this year will bring, eventhough it is not a "normal" year.  I can't wait to share in your stories. I can't wait to help you get excited about reading someone else's story.

Just remember..."Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.: ~ Mason Cooley
