Mary Beth Riddick
My name is Mary Beth Riddick and I am a first grade teacher at River Dell Elementary School. I am originally from Eure, NC, a small town in the northeastern part of the state. I graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) with a degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Child Development and Family Studies. I received my National Board Certification in 2014 and have taught in Greene, Pitt, and Wake counties. I am the proud mom of two boys, Sawyer and Kesler and our sweet little dog, Andy. My husband and I, along with our sons, moved to Clayton in 2015 and we love being part of this community! I spend my free time reading, baking, and supporting my kids at their sporting events. Teaching is my passion and I love helping my students develop the tools to follow their dreams!

This year for our 3-5 STEM Night we would like to invite our wonderful community of Scientists, Engineers, Mathematicians, and Technology Professionals into our school to present their knowledge, talents, and/or careers to our upper grade students and their families. We are in search of any River Dell Families or Friends of our school community that may have a willingness to volunteer about 2 hours in the evening on March 28th to share their passion/career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math with our upper grade students. Our Art Teacher, Mrs. Anayiotos, needs our help. She would like to do a Kindness project. The kids will paint rocks with words of kindness. The painted rocks will be placed in a Kindness garden. She needs smooth rocks (at least 1 side needs to be smooth), cans of white paint (used to paint the rocks before the kids paint them), and cans of clear sealer. Thank you for your support!
SGA is selling candy February 11th and 12th for $.50. Candy includes fun size Skittles, M&M's, and Fun Dip. Carnations will be on sale February 13th and 14th. Carnations cost $1.00. All extras will be on sale Friday, February 15th. The sale will take place in the front lobby from 8:30-8:55 a.m. All money raised will go towards our Rise Against Hunger event at the end of the year.
A parent information session will be held on Thursday, February 21st from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. We would like to give parents an update on the progress of our school and address our goals for moving forward into next year. We would also like to give our parents an opportunity to give feedback on what you view as the biggest challenges facing our school and suggestions on how to improve our school to be the best we can be. We will have childcare provided for this event and we would love to have a big crowd.
