Mary Beth Riddick

My name is Mary Beth Riddick and I am a first grade teacher at Thanksgiving Elementary School.  I am originally from Eure, NC, a small town in the northeastern part of the state.  I graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) with a degree in Elementary Education and Reading (K-12) and a concentration in Child Development and Family Studies.  I received my National Board Certification in 2014 and have taught in Greene, Pitt, and Wake counties.  I am the proud mom of two boys, Sawyer and Kesler and our sweet little dog, Andy.   My husband and I, along with our sons, moved to Clayton in 2015 and we love being part of this community!  I spend my free time reading, baking, and supporting my kids at their sporting events.  Teaching is my passion and I love helping my students develop the tools to follow their dreams!

We hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday with their families. We only have 15 days of school until our break in December and we want to encourage everyone to make these days count. There is a PTA meeting on Tuesday evening at 6:00 in the River Dell media center. We would like to encourage everyone to come out and hear about all of the great things that our PTA has been up to. Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much!

The weather is getting cooler, and we want to remind you to write your child's name inside of jackets, hats, gloves, etc. in case they end up in the lost and found. Also, please make sure names are written on student water bottles. We want to make sure that if items end up in the office we are able to return them quickly to their owners.

We wanted to update all of our morning carpool families, as well as our morning walkers. All students will now enter at the main entrance in the very front of the school rather than at the glass hallways. At this time we do not have staff available to monitor the glass hallway entrances, and safety is our first priority. This will begin for all tomorrow, October 5th.
