Mary Beth Riddick

My name is Mary Beth Riddick and I am a second grade teacher at Thanksgiving Elementary School.  I am originally from Eure, NC, a small town in the northeastern part of the state.  I graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) with a degree in Elementary Education and Reading (K-12) and a concentration in Child Development and Family Studies.  I received my National Board Certification in 2014 and have taught in Greene, Pitt, and Wake counties.  I am the proud mom of two boys, Sawyer and Kesler and our sweet little dog, Andy.   My husband and I, along with our sons, moved to Clayton in 2015 and we love being part of this community!  I spend my free time reading, baking, and supporting my kids at their sporting events.  Teaching is my passion and I love helping my students develop the tools to follow their dreams!

Carpool has been running so smoothly in the mornings.  We want to remind parents that you should not drop off students at the top of the bus driveway to walk down to school.  You can walk from your home or take them through carpool line.  We appreciate your cooperation with this as we try to keep everyone safe. We want to thank everyone who attended Heritage Day on Saturday.  We had an amazing turn out, and we can't wait to do it again next year.

We are really excited about our staff/parent basketball game for this Friday, March 11th.  We will be playing against Thanksgiving Elementary at Archer Lodge Middle School.  Our women's team of parents and teachers will be playing at 6pm.  Our men's team will be playing at 7pm.  Admission is one non-perishable food item for our Backpack Buddies program.  This is such a great opportunity to help our families in need.

Report cards went home today. Please make sure to go over these with your children, then sign and return the envelopes. Tomorrow night is Spirit Night at Culver's on Hwy 70 in Clayton, near CVS and Bojangles. Come enjoy some delicious dinner at Culver's from 5:00-8:00, and a portion of the proceeds comes back to the students here at RDE.
