My passion is to develop lifelong readers through literature that motivates curiosity and a media center that encourages readership. Reading is the key to improving vocabulary and fluency to develop lifelong learners. Creating the perfect environment for students to explore learning by providing relevant reading material and project based research exploration is the BMS Media Center's purpose. Enhancing the educational environment is our goal!
A native of South Florida, I began teaching English in 1996. A graduate of Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, I taught for ten years in West Palm Beach, Florida where I was born and raised. Certifications and Endorsements included English 9-12, Language Arts 5-8, Media Specialist K-12, Reading K-12, and ESL K-12. After moving to North Carolina, I began teaching at Benson Middle School in 2006. I was the eighth grade ELA teacher for three years, the seventh grade ELA teacher for one year, and have been the Media Coordinator and Media-Tech Teacher at Benson Middle School since 2010. I earned my Masters of Library Science Degree from East Carolina University in December of 2013. I am currently certified in Media K-12, Gifted K-12, and ELA 6-12.

Johnston County Public Schools will hold it's annual Trades & Classified Job Fair on Saturday, June 24. The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Smithfield-Selma High School, 700 M Durwood Stephenson Pkwy, Smithfield, NC 27577.

Updated School Nutrition Information for 2022-23
We hope that you and your student have already noticed some of the exciting new food and meal opportunities we are offering in our cafeterias this school year. Our new options will include more fresh produce, vegetarian options, and opportunities for students to customize their meal choice. These new offerings will be available at both breakfast and lunch.
