Ms. Kelly Katen
Welcome! I love teaching reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills and strategies to our English Language Learners. I have 24 years of experience in elementary education. My first years of teaching were in my home state of Connecticut working with kindergarten, second, and fifth grade students. Moving to North Carolina in 2006, I have taught fifth, fourth, third, and ELL (grades K-5) learners. I have a Bachelors of Science in Education and Psychology from Sacred Heart University, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language from Fairfield University. I have my certification in the Orton-Gillingham/Wilson reading approach and have studied at Columbia University in conjunction with Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project. I am a member of the International Literacy Association (ILA), TESOL International Organization, and National Council of Teachers of English.

Updated School Nutrition Information for 2022-23
We hope that you and your student have already noticed some of the exciting new food and meal opportunities we are offering in our cafeterias this school year. Our new options will include more fresh produce, vegetarian options, and opportunities for students to customize their meal choice. These new offerings will be available at both breakfast and lunch.
