Ms. C. Denise Edmondson

Hello everyone!

My name is Ms. C. Denise Edmondson and I am so excited to be on the second grade team again at Cooper Academy! Go Rockets! I love teaching! I am thrilled to be your teacher, and I am looking forward to a year of learning, fun and adventures. I can't wait to learn all about you, but first I'll tell you a little about me.

I was reared in Wilson County just outside the Johnston County line. I have one son. I have four brothers. I am the only girl! I attended James B. Hunt High, Wilson NC. The University of Mount Olive is where I attended college and obtained my degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been in the Johnston County School System for nineteeen years.

There is so much that I am looking forward to this year! Here are a few things that second grade has to offer. In math this year, your second grader will continue to explore the logic of numbers. He/she will also start to learn that all the number facts are related in a systematic way. In reading, students are challenged to become more fluent readers. We will be learning about life cycles in science, and how to be a part of a community in social studies. Get ready! Get Ready!

My favorites:

favorite color: purple

favorite dinner: meatloaf with cabbage, and cornbread with candied yams

favorite season: winter

favorite animal: elephant

favorite resturant: Olive Garden

hobbies: spending time with my family, watching the tide roll in and out!

    Greeting Parents!

The year has started and we are blasting off into learning. As you know, we are now into our second nine weeks of school! Wow! how time flies when you are having fun! This nine weeks we will be focusing on asking those who, what, when, where and why questions, reading paragraphs and idenitying the main topic of each paragraph, and we will still be continuing with the central/main idea of the text or whatever we may be reading. In math, we will be discussing shapes 2-D  and 3-D. How are they alike, how are they different, and we will also be learning arrays (how many columns and how many rows). In science, we will be discussing life cycles of animals and our life cycle. The stages of our life cycle  and the stages of animals. These are just a few of the many things we will be learning this nine weeks. Thank you for your continued support! Remember you may reach through Dojo, email or phone. deniseedmondson@johnston.k12.nc.us

Looking forward to more fun learning, and working with you and your child!

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Edmondson
