Dorotea Torchiano

Degrees and Certifications:

Dorotea Torchiano

I am Dorotea Torchiano and I am the Speech/Language Pathologist for Clayton Middle and High Schools. I have been a Speech/Language Pathologist for over 20 years.  Although I have worked with persons with a variety of speech and language difficulties, I specialize in speech/language development for the deaf/hard of hearing, autistic, and severely cognitively impaired populations. This year will be my 4th year working for Johnston County Schools. As a resident of Clayton, I am honored to be able to provide treatment to young people living within my own community.  I enjoy working with the staff and the students at my schools.  My B.A. degree in Education and Communication was earned at St. Joseph’s College, Brooklyn, New York.  I received an M.S. in Education in the area of Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped from City University of New York - Brooklyn College. I am certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association. I am originally from Brooklyn, New York. The switch from big city to small town life suits me fine and the added sunshine is the icing on the cake. In my spare time, I find lots to do - gardening, hiking, birding, theatre, symphony, museums etc. I am ready to start a wonderful new school year full of positive changes for my students!
