Degrees and Certifications:

B.S. Social Science - Education, Campbell University Social Studies Teacher Certification (Grades 6-12) AIG Certified (JCPS)

Mr. Matt Johnson

My name is Matt Johnson, and I am a social studies teacher at Johnston County Early College Academy. I'm also a lifelong resident of Johnston County. I earned my degree in teaching from Campbell University, and I'm licensed to teach social studies in both middle and high school. This is my 13th year in the classroom. I have also been teaching at JCECA for a while now, and I love every moment of working with our students and staff.

I'm a total nerd at heart - talk to me about Star Wars, Walt Disney World, or anything dealing with U.S. politics. You will probably see memorabilia from a galaxy far, far away in my classroom, and you might listen to instrumental Disney music while doing classwork some days! My students will be the first to tell you that very few can match my sarcastic wit and dry sense of humor. And they'll also tell you that you can always feel comfortable coming to me to ask any questions or if you just need some support.
