A Word From Our 2018-2019 PTA President
I'm extremely excited to serve our school community as the PTA President for the 2018-2019 school year. I have been active in a support role for some time but look forward to leading this outstanding organization. We are a very active and enthusiastic PTA. Our board of directors includes parents and teachers who want to co-create the best school possible for our kids. We cannot wait to get started!
Our focus this year, as past years, will be to continue supporting our students, teachers and McGee’s community with meaningful programs and fun. We strive to give our teachers and students programs and services that enhance the classroom experience.
We have many events and programs that we run throughout the school year. Some of these events like BoxTops for Education and Spirit Nights at local restaurants bring funding into our school to support student learning, growth and development. Other programs the PTA is involved with such as the Artists in the School Programs and Book Fairs (Fall and Spring) provide enrichment opportunities for our students. Activities like the Boosterthon for character/health education, the Father/Daughter event, the Mother/Son event, Breakfast with Santa and the Annual Tree Lighting/Holiday Chorus Performance are meant to engage our community in family events at the school. The PTA also sponsors teacher luncheons each quarter and a week long celebration the first week in May to recognize Teacher Appreciation Week. These events allow us to give back to our educators and demonstrate how much they mean to our school community.
We will hold 3 PTA General meetings this year. Our meetings will have membership and volunteer sign up as well as Spirit Wear available to purchase. My goal is to fully communicate what the PTA is doing as well as increase membership and participation. We cannot do this without you so please plan to join us with all your enthusiasm and good ideas.
As parents, all of us are busy, but I do respectfully ask that you find one way to contribute to McGee’s Crossroads Elementary School this year. Chair a committee (we'll show you what to do), join a committee that allows you to volunteer from home, volunteer in a classroom, attend PTA meetings and bring your great ideas, and support our fundraisers. There's something for everyone.
I'm excited as I look forward to this new school year and I invite you to join me as we work together to maintain an outstanding tradition of school excellence and community involvement for our children.
All the best,
PTA President 2018-2019
