Ms. Desiree Stover

"Keep your face to the sun and you will never see the shadows."  Helen Keller

Welcome to CTLA!  I am beginning my fourth year as Counselor for CTLA.  I've worked for 28 years as a School Counselor and private therapist with experience in a variety of settings.

I support student success in a number of ways. My primary responsibility is to promote success within the school environment. I recognize that students' overall well-being is fundamental to academic achievement, and I encourage students to see me when encountering academic, social, or personal difficulty. Counselors address the concerns of students and, when necessary, connect them and families with the resources they may need, both inside and outside of school.

A little about me:  I grew up in upstate New York and relocated to North Carolina when I was in high school.  I graduated from North Carolina State University and East Carolina University.  I am licensed  through the NC Department of Public Instruction (K-12) and the NC Board for Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC).  I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC).  I am owned by two very spoiled cats, Jingles and my newest addition, Sofie.  I love baseball and always pull for the Yankees.  In my spare time, I'm a photographer and love to travel for new photo opportunities.

My door is open and I look forward to getting to know you!

School Announcements

  • JCC Online Classes & Reassignment Form

Good Afternoon Dear CTLA Parents and Students, I received several emails from JCC instructors stating that several CTLA students are MIA (Missing in Action). Several students are not logging into their online classes, and they are not responding to emails from their college instructors. Ms. Stover will be contacting specific students and their parents by email today that this may pertain to. Failing to log in to complete, and submit assignments on time, will ultimately result in failing the course and receiving only high school credit. Thanks to those who are maintaining your college classes and ensuring that all assignments are completed and submitted on time. Parents, you received an email a few weeks ago to complete the reassignment form for your student. If this has not been completed, please complete the reassignment process as soon as possible. I will email the information again later today to complete the reassignment process. Thank you.
