Mr. Daniel Benson

Hello, My name is Daniel Benson, I teach Health & PE here at South Johnston High School.  I am a 2001 graduate of UNC-Wilmington.  I coach Girls and Boys Golf and indoor track.  I am originally from Clayton, NC.  I currently live in Four Oaks with my wife Beth and three children Sydney, Skylar and Sawyer. I look forward to meeting all my new students and their families.

    Course Description:

     Health and Physical Education is a required course for the North Carolina High School Diploma. In this course, you will study 

    Objectives:

    1. Physical fitness and motor skills.
    2. Social Efficiency
    3. Psychological Development
    4. Intellectual Knowledge
    5. Skills in sports, including Lifetime Sports

     

    Materials:

    1. Shorts/Sweatpants
    2. T-shirt/Sweatshirt
    3. Athletic Shoes
    4. Internet Access and Device

     

    Course Requirements:

    Students will complete activities and assignments posted in Canvas weekly, following the “Grading and Assignments” listed below. 

    Grading and Assignments:

    -All assignments are posted by Friday at 4pm prior to the next week

    -Assignments are due by the following Friday by 1pm

    Teacher will contact if you have not turned in

    Grading Policy

    -Powerschool will be updated by 5 days after submission date of assignments

    Attendance Policy:

    The attendance policy will conform with the Johnston County Public Schools Board Policy

    You are allowed to have a maximum of 4 absences per 9 weeks; 8 absences per semester. 

    For attendance, you will be required to log into the course via Canvas. In the course, you will complete the “Sign In” form daily. To receive credit for your attendance, you will need to complete the form entirely. You are expected to have the form completed each day, before the closing of the school day.
