Mr. Christopher Aycock
I graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2007. I worked for an engineering and landscape architecture firm for a few years before deciding (after some serious soul searching) to pursue my passions for teaching and mathematics. I enrolled in UNC-Greensboro's graduate school program, NC TEACH, to obtain my teaching license and have been teaching at South Johnston since 2010. I do not discount my experiences as an engineer as I am frequently able to bring real-world relevance to my students through those experiences.
I am thankful to work at a school that is dedicated to personalizing education to best meet students' needs. I am currently the Lead Faciliator of PBL, one of the customized learning opportunities at our school. My adoption of the Project-Based Learning (PBL) methodology came naturally to me after seeing the importance of bringing relevance and authenticity to the content I teach. I am excited to work with my colleagues and students as we make the transition to this learning model over the next school year.
