Miss Jessica Joschak
The 2018-2019 year will be my 5th year teaching at SSS and I absolutely love my Spartan Family! I will be teaching Honors English II, AVID II, and Honors English IV/AP Literature and Composition. Since starting at SSS, I have taught Essentials of English, English II, English III, and English IV in addition to my current classes.
I was also the proud varsity cheerleading coach from 2014-2017, which allowed me to revisit a sport I love, as well as show my school spirit. I now coach the Level 2 and Level 3 teams at Xtreme Carolina Athletics in Wendell.

I am a Pennsylvania native and grew up in a small town 25 miles outside of Pittsburgh. My students can hardly believe it when I tell them my hometown is smaller than Smithfield! I graduated from Penn Trafford High School in Harrison City, PA in 2007. I have many fond memories of my Warrior home, including multiple community service projects through the Community Action Program, playing basketball from elementary through middle school, exploring different cultures through the French Club, and spreading school spirit as a cheerleader. I am a graduate of Penn State University (2012), where I received a secondary education degree with focuses in both English and Communications. During my collegiate career, I served as a tutor in multiple schools through both the Penn State Educational Partnership Program and Volunteers In Public Schools. A classroom is where I've always felt most comfortable and I hope to bring that same security to my students.
My love of teaching is what brought me to North Carolina -- although the sunshine and beaches aren't too bad either! I've truly made a home is this beautiful state and I can't picture myself anywhere else.
