Mrs. Deanne Mertz

Welcome to the Home of the Spartans!

My name is Deanne Mertz and I have been an English teacher for the past 17 years. While many of my years were spent in middle school, I have been with SSS for the past seven years. I call SSS home and am proud to a Spartan!

I relocated to Wendell in 2012 from Fort Myers, Florida where I lived for 10 years. I was born and raised in Lancaster County, Pa. I grew up in the middle of Amish County and was a 1993 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School. I went on to attend West Chester University outside of Philadelphia where I graduated with a bachelor's in English. I was a news reporter for a few years until I stepped foot into the classroom- where I have found my home and continue to believe that our future leaders are sitting in my class. I look forward to meeting you all in August!

    Over the Summer

In the event you have any questions or concerns regarding your class in the Fall, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will be teaching summer school and will have my computer close by to respond. If you are taking an Honors English 4 next year or AP Language, you should start your summer reading assignment now rather than later. This assignment is due on the first day of class. Summer Reading is located on the school website. If you have trouble locating it, please email me and I will see to it that you get a copy of the assignment.

In the Fall, I am teaching English 4 and AP Language.

In August, students enrolled in my class will received codes to join the appropriate google classroom.

Students will also obtain a consumable copy of the textbook.
