Dear Parents of 4th and 5th Graders,
This year for Battle of the Books (BOB) we are excited to partner with Laura McGuire, the Youth Services Librarian at Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library! Your child has the opportunity to join our Battle of the Books team and participate in the NC Elementary Battle of the Books competition. This competition between schools allows students to challenge themselves and show their knowledge of books. If your child enjoys reading or competing, this could be a great opportunity for them even if they are new to competing or a little nervous!
The Commitment
Being on our BOB Team does require commitment. Students are required to be present at our Monday morning practices at 7:30 am every week. In order to compete, students must read at least 5 books from the list AND achieve a 90 or higher on that book’s test. Students will be expected to complete one book a month leading up to the competition. The NC School Library Media Association chose the 15 chapter books listed below. Parents, please sign your child up by completing this Google Form no later than September 9th.
We look forward to coaching your child this year!
