Ms. Linda Stanford

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians, This is my 20th year being a Social Studies teacher at Smithfield Middle School! I enjoy teaching about the major events of our world's past that impact our lives today. I'm so glad that teachers and students can all be together again at one time in our school building! My goal is to help students achieve their full potential, work to the best of their ability, take pride in themselves and their work, to engage their minds, and to value their ability to learn and gain knowledge.  I truly believe in this famous quote from South Africa's Nelson Mandela about the importance of eduation:

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.

I challenge my students to learn all they can so that they can change our world for the better.

  •  Welcome!                                               Bienvenidos

Announcement to all Parents / Guardians:

A paper copy of Progress Reports were to go home to with students this past Friday, 9/17/21 for each class

    including my Social Studies course.

However, I was not able to provide a paper copy to all of my students that day. If your student was

one of the ones whose class did not receive theirs, I apologize. It was completely my error and had

nothing to do with the students. Please be aware that your student will receive his/her paper copy of

the Progress Report for Social Studies on Monday, 9/20/21.  It does need to be reviewed by each

student's parent / guardian, signed, and returned to me as soon as possible. As a reminder,

you can, of course, keep up with your child's grades consistently by checking Power School.

The grades for my Social Studies class have been there just as they will appear on the paper copy of

    the Progress Report.

Again, my apologies for any confusion on this matter.

    Thank you, Linda Stanford

Greetings to all of my new students for the 2021-22 school year!! It's so good to have our students back into the school building and to be together in person again!

Students, I wish you a great 7th grade year!!!

  • Updated COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance

There have been significant changes to the Strong Schools NC toolkit that affects the quarantine procedures our staff and students must follow if they are exposed to a positive case of COVID-19. Any student or staff member who is currently quarantined due to an exposure of a positive COVID-19 case may return to school or work tomorrow, unless the close contact is a housemate. We are able to make this adjustment because our district requires masks for all students, staff, and guests.
