Ms. Linda Stanford

WELCOME!

I have been a 7th grade Social Studies teacher at Smithfield Middle School for 18 years. This school year will be year 19! My husband and I live in Apex with our two English Springer Spaniel dogs, Madison and Jackson. I am originally from Georgia but my husband and I have lived in North Carolina for 20 years. Before settling here, we lived in several different places around the United States including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Vermont and California. However, North Carolina was where we chose to settle down and make our home. I really enjoy teaching Social Studies and I love being a part of the SmMS Knights family!

  •  Welcome!                                               Bienvenidos

I am delighted to be your teacher of Social Studies / World History

    ***IMPORTANT INFORMATION***

Smithfield Middle School will be using Google Classroom as the way for

students to access communications from their teachers and their assignments

for each subject.  ALL students who have me, Linda Stanford, as your 7th

grade Social Studies teacher will access my Google Classroom using this code:

6bj53kc   (Our Google Classroom is titled "Stanford's Remote Learners

    2020-21")

Once school begins on Monday, August 17, I will have virtual office hours

from 9:20 - 10:05 a.m. During that time, I will be available for students or

parents / guardians to contact me with any questions, concerns or issues

that you may have. It might be a question about our Social Studies class,

it could be an issue with technology, maybe you need help

on one of our assignments, or you have questions about a project we are

working on.  But this time, 9:20 - 10:05, is dedicated time for me to be

    available to my students.

  • Complete the Second Semester Choice Form

Every JCPS parent must fill out the Second Semester Choice form to choose either the Virtual Program OR face-to-face instruction for each of their students. The Second Semester Choice form is to be filled out for ALL students in grades PreK-12. If a child is going to participate in face-to-face instruction for the second semester, the parent will be asked to fill out transportation information for the student in the form. A form for each student should be completed by Nov. 30.

  • Updated Social Distancing Procedures

Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
