BA in History-North Carolina State University

Mr. Dennis Draughon

This will be my ninth year teaching at Smithfield Middle. Before that, I briefly taught in Wake County schools. I have a BA in History from NC State University. In addition to teaching, I have been an editorial cartoonist for the past 37 years, visually commenting on national, state and local politics, as well as current events. For most of my time at Smithfield Middle, I have taught American history, which fits well with my other vocation. Two years ago, I taught World history for 7th graders here at our school. This year I will be teaching American history for 8th grade, as I did last year.
