Mrs. Megan Barnes

My name is Megan Barnes. I live in Smithfield, NC with my husband, son, and daughter. We have 3 dogs and a fish. I graduated from SSS in 2001. Go Spartans! I have a Bachelor's Degree from ECU in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I also have a Master's Degree in Special Education concentrating in Learning Disabilities. I have been working at South Smithfield Elementary since 2005. I am a lifelong learner and love teaching at South Smithfield Elementary School: Home of the Dynamic Dolphins!

  • Red Ribbon Week - October 25-29, 2021

    Red Ribbon Week is coming up the week of October 25-29, 2021. Red Ribbon Week is a national observance of the campaign to "Say No to Drugs." In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, we will have spirit days - each with a theme related to drug abuse prevention. Students and staff are encouraged to dress according to the theme each day.

  • Multicultural Spirit Week - October 11-14

    During the week of October 11 - 14, we will be celebrating our cultural diversity at South Smithfield Elementary with a Multicultural Spirit Week. Each day has a different spirit theme. We can't wait to see what our staff and students wear to celebrate our cultures!

  • Violin Class Signups Going on Now!

    At South Smitfield Elementary, we are excited to once again offer Beginner Violin clases to any interestesd 3rd. 4th or 5th Grade student. These classes are taught by JCPS Teacher, Ann Tart. Classes are held during enhancement times and will begin sometime around mid- September.
