Mrs. Cali Durning-Smith

Hello! My name is Cali Durning-Smith and I am eager to welcome you back for another amazing school year. This will be my 7th year of teaching at SSE. I have taught Special Education ever since beginning my teaching career here in 2016. This year, I will be teaching an Exceptional Children’s Self-Contained class. I am very excited for this new adventure and hope that your child is excited as well! I am originally from Western Maryland, but moved to Western Pennsylvania and that is where I obtained my degree from Robert Morris University (Pittsburgh). My degree and certifications are in General Education and Special Education. I am passionate about South Smithfield and will be serving on the School Improvement Team this year. I am also a Mentor for beginning teachers here at SSE. I truly love to help and support others in the teaching field, although I am always learning as well! Teaching is my passion. There is never a dull moment! When I am not at school, I am spending time with my husband Zac and my sweet American Eskimo Dog, Lila. We are dedicated Ice Hockey fans and have season tickets for the Carolina Hurricanes. We are counting down the days until the season begins… GO CANES!

Please continue to check back on this site as information will be shared throughout the year. If you are not already connected to Class Dojo, I will be sending you an invite to connect to our class. This will allow you to communicate with me and see pictures of your child hard at work throughout the school year!
