Mrs. Kimberly Drown
I am excited to begin my 22nd year of teaching during the 2020-2021 school year. I am a native of Asheville, N.C. and made Johnston County and West Johnston High School my home in 2007. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, Political Science and International Studies. While working for a multinational corporation, I discovered my love of working with young adults by training them in a workforce readiness program. After receiving Social Studies Education Certification 1999, I began my teaching career at Brevard High School in beautiful Transylvania County, N.C. In 2008, I completed a Master in Liberal Arts with a concentration in curriculum design. I enjoy spending time with my family in the outdoors. A few of my favorite activities are gardening, hiking, kayaking, biking and swimming. I look forward to working with each WILDCAT and their families during this school year. *Supplies under course tab.

Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
As students in grades K-5 begin returning to school, the curbside locations for free meals will now be located at each middle and high school. The curbside meal locations at our elementary schools will end on Friday, Oct. 2 and will open at the middle and high schools on Monday, Oct. 5.
The Johnston County Board of Education approved a back to school plan at a special called session on Thursday, Sept. 25.
