Hello Wildcats!

My name is Christy Barbour. I am a 1990 graduate of South Johnston High School and a 1993 graduate of Campbell University with a BS in Home Economics. I have been teaching Foods and Nutrition for 25 years and 20 of those here at West Johnston High School.  Go Wildcats!!!  I have 2 daughters, Alyssa (23) and Anna (19). 

I LOVE teaching Foods classes!!  I tell my students from the beginning that I am not a CHEF.....I am a "COOK"!  I have no culinary background other than the knowledge I have gained through teaching Foods and Nutrition classes.  I love to cook and I love sharing my knowledge with my students to help them be successful in the kitchens, because we all have to eat....right?  It is amazing to see the pride that bursts from students when they prepare a food from scratch!!  

In my spare time, I love working in my yard and I love spending my summers at the beach!

  • Updated School Nutrition Information for 2022-23

    We hope that you and your student have already noticed some of the exciting new food and  meal opportunities we are offering in our cafeterias this school year. Our new options will include more fresh produce, vegetarian options, and opportunities for students to customize their meal choice. These new offerings will be available at both breakfast and lunch.
