Mr. Tol Avery

Mr. Tol Avery comes to North Johnston following three years as principal at Four Oaks Middle School.

Mr. Avery, who is originally from Four Oaks, graduated from South Johnston High School in 1979. He attended North Carolina State University from 1979-1982 on a football scholarship.

In 1983, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and later played with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Mr. Avery joined the U.S. Army in 1984 to begin a 20-year military career that included serving with the 7th Armored Division. While in the Army, he was assigned to the University of Houston as a military science instructor and taught as a teaching fellow in the Health and Human Performance Department.

During his assignment at the University of Houston, Avery received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Southern University. He earned his master’s degree in physical education from the University of Houston in 2004 and added a license in administration from East Carolina University in 2009.

He took a job at Clayton High School in 2009 where he taught physical education along with coaching football and basketball. While at Clayton, he was named Johnston County’s first-year Teacher of the Year.

He began a six-year stint in 2010 serving as assistant principal at South Johnston High School before being assigned to Four Oaks Middle. While at South Johnston, he was named Johnston County Assistant Principal of the Year.

Mr. Avery is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Fayetteville State University.

He lives in Clayton and has three grown daughters including Tanita Avery, 28, and 21-year-old twins Aaliyah and Alysha Avery.

Mrs. Shannon Sellers

Mrs. Sellers has been in education for over 20 years with the majority of her time spent in Johnston County.  She was an English teacher for 12 years and has been an administrator for 9 years.

Mrs. Sellers lives close by with her husband, Anthony and son, Scott.  She also has two daughters, Katlyn and Katelynn.  Katlyn is a Panther, Alum and currently lives in SC.  Katelynn lives in Clayton.

Mr. Chad Holloman

Mr. Holloman started his career in Johnston County Public Schools as a student. After graduating from North Johnston High School, he worked as a Substitute Teacher and Assistant Athletic First Responder in the district while attending undergraduate classes at North Carolina State University. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education, he began his career at Corinth Holders High School as an Agriculture Education teacher, FFA Advisor, and Athletics First Responder. While teaching, Mr. Holloman completed his Masters of Agriculture Education from NC State University. Continuing to serve at CHHS as an Athletics First Responder, Mr. Holloman moved to the Student Services Department and worked as a Career Development Coordinator.
 
After completing his Masters in School Administration from Gardner Webb University, Mr. Holloman has served as an Assistant Principal at Archer Lodge Middle School, Riverwood Middle School, and Corinth Holders High School. He has also taught undergraduate classes at NC State University in the College of Education. Mr. Holloman is excited about the opportunity to return to the North Johnston community to serve.
