Dr. Ben Williams

Ben Williams is a native of Pine Level and a 1993 graduate of North Johnston High School. Dr. Williams graduated in 1999 from North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Sociology and in 2010 with a Masters in School Administration, again from North Carolina State University. In 2017 he received a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Dr. Williams is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Army Reserves.

 

Dr. Williams began his teaching career as a Social Studies teacher in 1999 at Jordan High School in Durham, NC. He returned to Johnston County in 2000 and served as a teacher and coach at North Johnston High School from 2000-2010. Mr. Williams continued to serve Johnston County Public Schools as an Assistant Principal at Riverwood Middle School from 2010-2012 and Corinth Holders High School from 2012-2014. He then served as principal at River Dell Elementary from 2014-2016, and principal at Archer Lodge Middle School from 2016-2017.

 

Dr. Williams is married to the former Brandy Toole, a 1996 graduate of North Johnston High School and kindergarten teacher at Selma Elementary school. They have four children. He enjoys family activities and serving in the church and community.

Ms. Michelle Swartz

Michelle Swartz currently lives in Clayton, NC.  She graduated from Pine Forest Senior High School in Fayetteville, NC in 1990.  She then attended East Carolina University and received a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 1994.  In 2010, she received a Masters in School Administration from Campbell University.  

 
She began teaching Chemistry and Biology at Clayton High School in 1995.  In 2000, she had twin girls and became a stay at home from 2001-2007.  In 2007, she began teaching Biology here at North Johnston High School.  In 2012, she became Assistant Principal here at North Johnston.
 
She is the mother of twin daughters, Mackenzie and Sydney Swartz, that are current juniors at North Johnston High School.  She likes spending time with family and friends enjoying the great outdoors.  She spends time on the beaches of North Carolina, hikes in the mountains and also enjoys traveling to foreign places.

Mr. Eric Waters

Eric Waters comes to NJHS by the way of Goldsboro, NC. He is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School. After being drafted by the Cleveland Indians, he attended Norfolk State University in Virginia on a baseball scholarship. He graduated in 1997 with a B.S. in Exercise Science. 

Mr. Waters began his teaching career in 1997 as a lateral entry teacher in Physical Education at Savannah Middle School in Lenoir County. He also coached football, baseball and basketball. During this time at SMS, he attended ECU to complete his teaching certification. 
 
After a brief teaching stint in Greene County, Mr. Waters returned to Lenoir County as an Exceptional Children's teacher in the fall of 2002, re-enrolling at ECU to complete that additional certification. While at North Lenoir High School, Mr. Waters coached cross-country track, varsity basketball and baseball, where he was a part of the 2005-2006 State Championship team.   
 
Mr. Waters returned home to teach at Goldsboro High in 2010, teaching P.E. and coaching basketball. He completed his Masters in School Administration in 2013. 
 
In 2015 Mr. Waters joined the staff at NJHS as an Assistant Principal. His wife, Tomekia, and their two daughters, Jaiden and Taylor, reside in Goldsboro. Mr. Waters enjoys meeting new people and watching sporting events.
