Homework for the Week:
During this difficult time, we have attempted to provide work for the students that will be review. We have two formats at this time. All students with internet access and a device will find their assignments on Google Classroom. They will also be able to complete their allotted time on Lexia each day.
For those students that have internet access but do not have a device, the school is working diligently to provide a plan so that students can check out a device from school. A connect ed communication will be done by Mrs. Bryant as this becomes available.
Packets have been made available at school with materials to complete through Spring Break. We are currently working on materials for the period from April 20 through May 1. These are already available on Google Classroom and will be available for pickup from school when Mrs. Bryant sends another Connect Ed call.
In the meantime, I have connected my cell phone and email with the school phone. If you need to contact me, just call (919) 989-6418. When prompted or asked for an extension, input or say 6332. This call will then be forwarded to me.
I hope that all of my students are doing well. I miss them and wish I could see them in person. We will be sending information through Google Classroom and through the students' school email accounts attempting to set up Google Meet calls where students can participate either with a device or a cell phone. Check daily for upcoming calls.
Please stay safe and call if you need me. Other sites are available for other types of assistance as well. Our Social and Emotional Learning team has a site, https://sites.google.com/view/wseselresources. Please contact them as needed.
We realize that some of you may not have internet and or devices and we have prepared packets with review material for your child. Pick up times will be as follows: Thursday, March 26 from 11:30 am-2:00 pm and from 3:00-6:00 pm. Also on Friday from 11:30-2:00.
As you are aware, per Governor Cooper's Executive Order, schools will remain closed until May 15. At this time, there is an online repository of student learning opportunities on the website to keep students engaged. Please click for more information.
Out of an abundance of caution and to assure the safety of our students, teachers, families and community, Johnston County Ed Foundation has made the very difficult decision to cancel the Showcase of Stars event scheduled for Sat., March 14. Please click here for more information.
Join us on March 5, 2020 as we have our Biomes Night. Come from 5 pm - 5:45 pm to visit grade level classrooms to see their Biomes Displays. At 6, K-5 will have a Biomes Performance in the Cafeteria. You don't want to miss this opportunity to see all that our students have been learning!
At this time, all traditional high school graduations are still planned for May 29. Graduation ceremonies for Johnston County Early College Academy and Johnston County Career and Technical Leadership Academy will now take place on May 16th, rather than the original date of May 15th.
The Johnston County Board of Education will hold a budget work session on Tuesday, April 27. The meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. and be held in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield.
