Time is certainly moving by at an amazing pace. It seems like yesterday that this school year began. Now it's almost February. We have a lot of upcoming dates to be aware of.
Upcoming Dates of Interest:
Tutoring will begin the middle of February. It will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Invitations will be sent home hopefully by the end of January.
Quarter 3 Progress Reports will be going home on February 3.
Quarter 3 Report Cards will be going home on March 14.
Battle of the Books will be held virtually on March 18.
The next CASE assessments will be between March 28 and April 8.
Spring Break will be Monday, April 11 through Friday, April 15.
Monday, April 18, is a teacher workday.
Final MAP testing will take place between April 19 and May 6.
Quarter 4 Progress Reports will go home on April 22, 2022.

Homework for the Week:
Students will have homework Monday through Thursday nights. Students are responsible for entering their homework into their daily planner. Please review these planners nightly and sign as this lets us know that you are aware of assignments, deadlines, upcoming events and use the planner to communicate with the teacher. Johnston County Public Schools 2022-2023 Preschool Applications are ready for your students that will be 3 or 4 years old on August 31, 2022. North Carolina does not have universal Preschool, therefore you do have to apply and qualify for one of our Preschool slots.

Students will inform their parents about how they're doing, what their goals are going forward, and what kind of learners they are. The goal of Read to Achieve legislation, which became law in July 2012, is to ensure that every student reads at or above grade level by the end of third grade. Parents, If you have not received your login for the Parent Portal, PLEASE update your child's records with a current email address. You will need to send a note with your child to have your email address updated. Please include your name, your child's name, and your current email address on the note. Mrs. Williams will then be able to update your records and activate your PowerSchool Parent Portal login.
Johnston County Public Schools will be moving to summer office hours on June 13. School and district offices will operate on a four-day work week. Offices will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays. The summer schedule will continue until August 11. All offices will be closed on July 4.
Johnston County Public Schools is always striving to provide students and families with exemplary service. In most cases, school bus transportation is essential for many students to access a quality education. In order to meet our daily goal, it is necessary to implement change that enhances and improves our overall operation. As we prepare for the 2022-2023 school year, JCPS Transportation Services and School Nutrition will be hosting a Summer Information Fair at each high school.
Our district is launching a new portion of our website to further communicate bus delays and replacements with our families. We encourage those who have a student who utilizes our transportation to get to or from school to visit www.johnston.k12.nc.us/busdelays for updates on our school bus routes beginning Tuesday, January 18.
The Johnston County Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the 2022 Johnston County Public Schools salary schedule at their regularly scheduled Dec. 14 meeting.
