Mr. TJ Parrish

I attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington graduating with a degree in elementary education (2000). I received my Master’s in School Administration from the North Carolina State University. I taught 4th and 5th grades for 7 years and served as an assistant principal for 9 years.

I am married to Meagan Parrish who is also an educator. She teaches 4th grade. I am a father of four children, ages 2,3,9, and 12.

I believe that all students can learn. I believe our job as educators is to help students develop into the absolute best version of themselves. I agree with Marva Collins who said, “There is a brilliant child locked inside each student.”  I believe in offering students engaging learning experiences that promote independence, foster a love of learning, and help prepare students for the future. As principal of Micro Elementary, my mission is to make our school the best it can possibly be.

Dr. Emily Batchelder

My name is Emily Batchelder, but I usually just go by "Dr. B."  I have been with Johnston County Public Schools for six years and have been a school administrator for 13 years.  I am so excited to be part of the Micro Team and join the spiders at the WEB.  I am originally from New York and went to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst for my undergraduate studies, Westfield State University for grad school, and completed my doctoral studies at the University of Sarasota.  I have been a teacher at all grade levels K-6, a curriculum coach, as well as a gymnastics coach.

I live in Johnston County with my husband, two young boys, and our Goldendoodle named Vader.  I enjoy playing outside with my family, taking hikes on the trails, relaxing on the beach, listening to music, and reading LOTS of books!  I get excited talking with students about books and love to hear about the things they have learned through reading, as well as the connections they make and authors they enjoy.  I believe that kindness is the key to everything, and can always remember the names and faces of folks who have been kind to me.

Please feel free to reach out to me anytime or stop by to introduce yourself.  Together- with teachers, staff, and the whole community, our students will achieve more.
