Welcome Back to School
I hope you have all had a restful summer vacation!
Some of you are probably ready to come back and some of you are dreading the new school year.
We will have some fun learning about each other and refining some of your reading and writing skills.
By the end of 6th grade you will be more independent and sophisticated learners!
I am ready to get back into the swing of things and I hope you are too!

Trisha Horta
My name is Mrs. Trisha Horta, and I am your child's 6th grade Language Arts teacher. This year is my third year teaching 6th grade ELA. Prior to coming to Archer Lodge Middle I worked at West Clayton Elementary as a 4th grade Language Arts teacher. Before that I worked at Cooper Elementary as a 5th grade Language Arts teacher. I began my career in education about 10 years ago at Cooper as a Teacher Assistant. I have a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from NC State University, a Master in Teaching and Learning with Technology from Ashford University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
My husband and I along with my 2 children moved to Clayton 12 years ago from New Jersey. I absolutely love it here in North Carolina! I do miss my very large extended family, the boardwalks of NJ, bagels and pizza, but happily call Clayton my home.
My children are 15 and 13. We are very active in sports (football, baseball and volleyball) and the community. I am the assistant volleyball coach here at the lodge! I love animals and have 2 dogs (a boxer and a boxer mix) and 3 rabbits! We may be able to have Fifi (1 of my rabbits) visit the class at times this year. The mountains is my happy place, although I can also appreciate a little sand between my toes!
I look forward to getting to know all of you and seeing you around town!
